'Waiting to open file...', 'Access Denied', 'Internal deadlock' or 'file is in use' messages

$kcs_do_not_edit

There are a number of reasons why you may receive this message, these include:

  • The file is incorrectly flagged as read-only.
  • The file doesn't exist.
  • The Windows user doesn't have the necessary Windows permissions to open or amend the file.
  • The file is corrupt.
  • The file is locked open on the server.
  • One or more PCs on the network may be using the wrong Sage Accounts licence.
  • Anti virus software
  • The data is from an earlier version

Certain unsupported network environments may increase the chance of experiencing this problem, for example a NAS server or wireless / wide area network. Ensure a standard windows server is being used and that you're running a local area network. NAS servers aren't supported with Sage Accounts and we therefore can't help with performance issues caused by them.

For further information about file locking in Sage Accounts, please refer to article 11213.
