Sage Drive - Connect to Sage Drive data from a remote computer for the first time

With Sage Drive you and your colleagues can access your live Sage 50 Accounts data from remote locations using the Internet. Once the Sage 50 Accounts data is uploaded to the cloud from the main computer, you can connect your remote computer.

Before connecting

  • Check your Internet speed - To use Sage Drive you must have a broadband Internet connection with:
    • A download speed of at least 4Mbps, and
    • An upload speed of at least 2Mbps.

    You can check your connection speed at various sites online, such as www.speedtest.net

  • Check your Sage 50 Accounts version - On your remote computer you must install the same version of Sage 50 Accounts as the main computer.
  • If you aren't the data owner, the Sage Drive invitation email advises which software version you need to install.

  • Check you have the encryption password - If you are the data owner, this is the password you set when you uploaded your data to Sage Drive. If you aren't the data owner, the person who invited you to access their data should supply you with the encryption password.
  • Single company licence only - If you are replacing existing accounts data with Sage Drive data, you should first back up your local company data.

Connect to Sage Drive data

If the Select Company window doesn't appear, log in to your data then click Tools, click Options then click Start up. Select the Show the Company List on start-up check box, click OK then restart Sage 50 Accounts.

  1. Open Sage 50 Accounts, if an Active Setup wizard appears, proceed to step 3.
  2. In the Select Company window, if you have a multi-company licence, click Add Company.

    If you don't have an additional company licence, click your local company, click Replace Company then click OK.

  3. In the Active Setup wizard, select Connect to data from Sage Drive then click Next.

    Single company licence only - If the Active Setup wizard doesn't appear at this point, or Replace Company isn't available, please refer to article 40285.

  4. Enter your Sage ID email address and password, then click Sign In.
  5. If prompted, enter the Captcha text then click Continue.
  6. Select the company data you want to connect to, then click Next.

    If you can't see the company listed, the data owner has not given access to the Sage ID you used to sign in.

  7. Enter the encryption password for the shared data, click Connect then log in to the company.

The first time you connect, a copy of the data downloads. This can take a few minutes depending on the speed of your Internet connection and the size of the data. Each time you log in after this, only changes to your accounts data download, which should just take a few seconds.
