Whether you've just purchased the latest version of Sage Quickpay or you receive it as part of your Sage Cover membership, we take you step by step through upgrading your software.

Automatic updates

To ensure your software runs smoothly and is compliant with new legislation, we release regular software updates. To check manually for updates in Sage Quickpay, click Help then click Check For Updates.

To make sure that you receive a notification when an update is available to download and install, you can check your automatic updates settings from within Sage Quickpay.

Before you upgrade Sage Quickpay, there are a few preparation steps you should follow.

Create a Sage website login and link to your account

You can view your account information, access support and downloads, and manage access to your account details online by visiting the Sage website. If you don't already have one, we recommend you create a Sage website login now.

  1. Visit www.mysage.ie and click Create a Sage login.
  2. Enter your details and click Register.
  3. An email is sent to the email address you registered with. If you don't see this email in your inbox, it may be in your spam or junk mail folder.

  4. Open the activation email and click the link provided.
  5. Once you're redirected to the homepage, enter your email address and password and click Sign In.
  6. Select I am an existing Customer, Business Partner, Accountant or Developer with an Account Number, then click Next.
  7. Enter your contact details and click Next.
  8. Enter your account and Micropay serial number, then click Next.

You've now created and activated your login and linked it to your Sage account.

Check your system requirements and access rights

Before you install the new version of Sage Quickpay, you must check that your computer meets the recommended system requirements and that you're logged on to your computer as an administrator. If you don't have administrator access, your software may not install correctly.

If you use Sage Quickpay in a network environment and store your data on a server, you need to have the relevant permissions to your data folder. You many need to contact your IT support for help with this.

Check where your Sage Quickpay data is held

To guarantee that your new update installs to the correct location on each computer, you must know where your existing version is installed.

You must complete the following steps on each computer that operates Sage Quickpay.

  1. Open Sage Quickpay and log in to a payroll as normal.
  2. On the menu bar, click Help then click System Information.
  3. Make a note of the Data Directory link.

If the Data Directory link shows a local drive, for example, C:\Program Files (X86)\Quickpay, then your payroll data is held on this computer. If the Data Directory link shows a mapped network drive, for example, Z:\Quickpay, then your payroll data is held on a network.

Back up your payroll data

Before you install the new version of your software, you should take a full system backup of your payroll data.

You should back up to a reliable storage medium, such as a network drive, a secondary disk drive or a memory stick.

Once you've followed the steps in the Prepare tab, you're ready to upgrade your existing Sage Quickpay software to the latest version.

Upgrade your data

After you install a Sage Quickpay update, the next time you open your software, your data automatically upgrades.

How long this takes depends on the size of your data files.

Once your data upgrades, check your version number in the top left-hand corner of your 2017 software is 17.0. If it's not, please refer to the previous section.
