If you're new to Sage Micropay and ready to install your software for the first time, you can find everything you need right here. We take you step-by-step through the installation, starting with preparing to install.

Ensure you have your account number and Micropay serial number to hand

If you're new to Sage Micropay, you can find your account number and Micropay serial number in the email, or on the invoice you received from us with your software.

Create a Sage website login and link to your account

You can view your account information, access support and downloads, and manage access to your account details online by visiting the Sage website. If you don't already have one, we recommend you create a Sage website login now.

  1. Visit www.mysage.ie and click Create a Sage login.
  2. Enter your details, then click Register.
  3. An email is sent to the email address you registered with. If you don't see this email in your inbox, it may be in your spam or junk mail folder.

  4. Open the activation email and click the link provided.
  5. Once you're redirected to the homepage, enter your email address and password, then click Sign In.
  6. Select I am an existing Customer, Business Partner, Accountant or Developer with an Account Number and click Next.
  7. Enter your contact details, then click Next.
  8. Enter your Sage account number and Micropay serial number, then click Next.

You've now created and activated your login and linked it to your Sage account.

Check your system requirements and access rights

Before you install Sage Micropay, you should check that your computer meets the recommended system requirements and that you're logged on to the computer as an administrator. If you don't have administrator access, your software may not install correctly.

If you want to use Sage Micropay in a network environment and store your data on a server, you also need to have the relevant permissions to this directory. You many need to contact your IT support for help with this.

Download Sage Micropay

  1. Click the link below:
    Download Download Sage Micropay 2017 (v18.6/19.0) >>
  2. When prompted, enter your Sage website login details and click Sign In.
  3. If prompted, select your account.
  4. Click Download.
  5. Depending on your Internet browser, the file automatically download to your Downloads folder or you're prompted to save the file.

  6. If prompted, browse to where you want to save the file then click Save.

What to do next

To get started, choose the type of installation you want to do.


After following the steps in the Preparation tab, you're ready to install your new copy of Sage Micropay.

To install your software on a single computer, follow the steps below. If you want to install your software on a network, please refer to the Network new install tab.

You're now ready to start using Sage Micropay. For help with setting things up, visit the Set up Sage Micropay area.

To install Sage Micropay on one computer

  1. Log on to your computer as a Windows administrator, and close all Sage software.

  2. Locate and double-click the downloaded Micropay installation file, then click Run.

  3. If additional security prompts relating to your User Access Control (UAC) account appear, you must accept these before you can continue with the installation.

  4. To accept the terms of the licence agreement, select the check box and click Next.

  5. Select This Computer, then click Next.

  6. Select one of the following options:

    • Typical - If you want to accept the default program and data folder locations, use this option.

    • Custom - If you want to change the program and data folder locations, use this option. Then to enter the folder details, click Browse, browse to and select the required location then click OK.

  7. Click Next then Install.

  8. When prompted that the installation has completed successfully, click Finish.

License your software

When you open Sage Micropay for the first time, the following window appears and you're prompted to enter your licence details.

Install any available updates

We release regular updates containing software improvements and new features, so it's important to ensure you're always using the latest version.

To make sure that you receive a notification when an update is available to download and install, you can check your automatic updates settings from within Sage Micropay.

After following the steps in the Preparation tab, you're ready to install your new copy of Sage Micropay.

To install your software on a network, follow the steps below. If you want to install your software on a single computer, please refer to the Standalone new install tab.

You're now ready to start using Sage Micropay. For more help, visit the Set up Sage Micropay area.

Setting up the server

  1. On the server computer, log on as a Windows administrator and close all Sage software.
  2. Locate and double-click the downloaded Micropay installation file, then click Run.
  3. If additional security prompts relating to your User Access Control (UAC) account appear, you must accept these before you can continue with the installation.

  4. To accept the terms of the licence agreement, select the check box and click Next.
  5. Select Server then click Next.
  6. Check the data folder location is correct. If not, amend as required.
  7. Make a note of the path as you need it later.

  8. To proceed with the installation, click Next then Install.
  9. When prompted that the installation has completed successfully, click Finish.
  10. Browse to the data folder location you noted in step 5.
  11. Right-click the folder, Micropay Professional, then left-click Properties.
  12. Click the Sharing tab.
  13. Share the Micropay Professional folder so other network users have full access and control to it.
  14. Under Network File and Folder Sharing, make a note of the Network Path location.
  15. Click Apply then OK.

Setting up a client

Log on to a machine that you want to use Sage Micropay on, then complete the following steps:

  1. Map a drive to the payroll server's Data Folder.
  2. You noted this path in step 12 of the previous section.

  3. Browse to the mapped network drive, then open the folder 2017.
  4. If this folder doesn't exist, open the folder 2016.

  5. Open the folder, Install.
  6. Double-click Micropay Professional Client Install.exe. If prompted, click Run.
  7. If additional security prompts relating to your User Access Control (UAC) account appear, you must accept these before you can continue with the installation.

  8. To accept the terms of the licence agreement, select the check box and click Next.
  9. Select Custom, then click Next.
  10. Check the payroll data folder location is correct. If it's not, click Browse, browse to the network location you mapped in step 1, then click OK.
  11. If you can't see the mapped network drive on the listing, you must disable the UAC security feature and restart your computer. Read more >>

  12. To proceed with the installation, click Next then Install and Finish.
  13. Repeat steps 1 to 8 on each computer you want to use Sage Micropay on.

License your software

When you open Sage Micropay for the first time, the following window appears and you're prompted to enter your licence details.
